While I’m starting to develop a decent skillset for replacing the skies in these images, this one in particular was very difficult to do on account of the trees spaced around the background. Specifically, patches of sky were present in the original that I simply couldn’t cleanly mask out, automatically or manually.

You’ll note that the tall tree in the top left of the source image has not only random leafage breaking up it’s shape in the center hole, but a mix of cloud and sky. These two factors played havoc with Affinity Photo’s automated selection tool, creating weird patches of semi-selected areas that refused to do what I needed them to do. So, given that the leaves form a mostly messy texture, I opted to use patch tools to fill the gaps and called it good.
One thing I need to figure out is how the grass and plants are still green (if you ignore the red coloration) in the world of The House of Eden, but that’s a narrative problem, and not one I wish to solve with photo editing tools, because browning-up the vegetation in all of these photos would be a pain.
